Provides a specialized learning environment for youth who are disengaged from the traditional school setting. Referrals are accepted through the Children's Aid Society & Sarnia Youth Probation. (high school aged)
A classroom therapist and teacher work collaboratively to engage youth, providing a therapeutic learning environment, while delivering education in a holistic manner. Additional community supports allow youth to achieve high school credits that are not limited to regular classroom instructions.
The Classroom Program Provides:
Small class sizes
The ability for students to work at their own pace and learning styles
Additional therapeutic supports that extend outside of the classroom
Curriculum matching with an alternative learning approach
Therapeutic Supports Include: Expressive Arts; Health and Wellness; Cultural Studies, Hot Lunch & Snacks
Classroom therapist supports include: Life Skills; Coping Skills;Substance Abuse Counselling; Healthy Relationship Education; Employment Skills;Emotion Regulation
Community partners include: Sarnia Lambton Children’s Aid Society, Lambton Kent District School Board, and the Ministry of Children & Youth Services, Youth Justice Services Division, SCCDSB & LKDSB.
Transitions II Classroom referrals are made via C.A.S. or Probation.
